My daughter just loves her jean skirt. The trouble is... She can't stop growing out of it! :)
To hopefully extend the life of her favorite clothing item, I extended its length by adding six inches of ruffles. It was so simple, and she loves it!
I cut two long strips of fabric about triple the circumference of the skirt. The width of one strip was 6 1/2 inches wide, and the other was 4 1/2 inches wide. I then sewed the ends of each strip together to make one continuous circle, hemmed the bottom edge and gathered the top edge to create ruffles. Then I sewed the longer ruffle on the bottom of the skirt and the shorter one along the top edge of the longer ruffle.
And voila! Here you have it--a made-over jean skirt! Hopefully my girl can get at least two months of wear out of it before her legs grow again! :)
